There are 9 planets in astrology that affect our lives and personalhoroscopes.
Sun One of its names is Aditya. It is also understood as the creator of all 'bhutas', which means objects and ingredients from which objects assume form. He is the ruler of all the planets. The sun is the ruler of the zodiac sign Leo. The sun represents the male or father principle and gives us vitality, the power of resistance and immunity. It is responsible for our physical appearance. It gives us life force, the power of will, intellect, brilliance, prosperity, and success in worldly affairs, wealth, cheerfulness, wisdom and fame.
Moon Moon is the presiding deity of the element water, and rules over the tides of the sea. Moon is the ruler of plants and the vegetable kingdom. The moon represents the mother of female principle. It rules peace of mind, comfort and fortune of an individual. The moon gives illumination, sense of purpose, intuitive nature, sensuality, fine arts and wealth. It makes us moody, emotional and sensitive.
Jupiter Jupiter in Sanskrit is known as 'Brihaspati'. He is the dwarf incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Brahma is the presiding deity of mental powers and the teacher of gods. He is the teacher of science of light and astronomy. Ruler of the Sun and Moon, he controls the movement of the planets. If favorable, this planet gives name, fame, success, honor and wealth. Jupiter is very important for a female because it determines her marriage and her relationship with her husband.
Rahu It is considered as the dragon's head and is also known as the north of Moon, the point where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic. Rahu does not rule any zodiacal signs and is not characterized as male or female. Since it is related to Moon as its north node, it reflects the basic bipolarity of energy within the cosmos and individual.
Mercury is the son of the Moon by his wife Rohini. Mercury is sexless and neutral. It is a cold and moist planet. It is adaptable to the placement in a sign and house. Because it is nearest to the Sun, it is restless. It rules education, writers, artists, teachers, traders and businessmen. Mercury rules intelligence, speech, self-confidence, humor, wit and mathematics.
Venus is known as Shukra in Hindu mythology. He is the son of great astrologer Bhrigu. He is an embodiment of love, a benefic planet and governs the refined attributes, romance, beauty, luxuries, wealth, arts, season of spring, rains and the bedroom. When rightly accepted, Venus is strong and it brings wealth, comfort and attraction to the opposite sex in the early part of life.
Ketu is known as the dragon's tail, which gives birth to comets and meteors and is known as the descending or the south node of the Moon. Ketu bestows wisdom, powers of discrimination and spiritual knowledge. It also bestows worldly desires and ambitions. Ketu can be destructive if inauspiciously positioned in the horoscopes.

Saturn In Sanskrit he is called 'Shani', a slow mover. He takes about two and a half years or so to pass through each constellation of the zodiac signs. Saturn destroys the house it occupies. When well placed it gives its natives wisdom, fame, ability to lead, authority, long life and awareness of right and wrong. When ill positioned it brings miseries, sorrow, delay, obstruction, disappointment and difficulties. Saturnine natives are defensive, nervous and secretive.

Mars is personified as the god of war. Mars makes its natives short-tempered, argumentative and soldiers. It bestows great technical and mechanical abilities. He is fond of law and order and arrangement. Mars gives energy, determination and a strong sense of purpose.
As each of the main seven planets is related to a day of the week, it is appropriate to chant the mantras of the planets.
Sunday - Sun
Monday - Moon
Tuesday - Mars
Wednesday - Mercury
Thursday - Jupiter
Friday - Venus
Saturday - Saturn

What are You
The 4 elements and your zodiac sign
It has always been a myth that 'sun signs' describe who you are. Instead, it is a formation of an individual during her or his existence. Some people identify firmly with their sign and others do not. The variations are usually related to whether the moon or any of the planets were in the same section of the zodiac as the sun at birth. If the sun's sign has the support of one or more planets, an individual is more likely to relate to the description. T
he twelve zodiac signs are divided into four groups- Fire, Earth, Water andAir.
Fire signs - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius They are warm, enthusiastic and outgoing. They have excess energy, which keeps them going. Other signs must often create boundaries in order to prevent the fire signs from absorbing all the resources and space in the vicinity. Fire signs are usually quite unaware of the effects of their massive energy. When they reach a clearly defined edge drawn by another sign, they rarely take offense, and readily move in another direction. The fire signs are very intuitive and rely heavily on an element of luck, which seems to be always with them. Fires often attract Earths to stabilize and center them.
Earth signs - Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn They are usually solid and dependable, just as the ground beneath us. They are gifted at manifestation in the concrete world and take pleasure in finding useful purposes for everything. Earth signs are natural recyclers. The Earth signs are often focused on material production. They get caught in repetitive routines and forget to use their imagination. Earths frequently attract fire signs into their lives to provide an element of excitement and change. But the 'Earth Sign' must deal with anxiety and unpredictability of 'Fire Sign'.
Air signs - Gemini, Libra and Aquarius They move constantly, like the wind. Even if the body appears to be still, the mind of an Air Sign is racing from one thing to another. They are generally talkative and tend to be winners in games of Trivial Pursuit. The 'Air Signs' develop their social skills early in life. They find it difficult to make commitments because they feel there are far more possibilities unexplored. Though Airs have lightning quick mental ability, they struggle in the world of emotions. Air Signs are usually unable to discuss about emotions and need support when encountering deep feelings and past memories. That is why they are prone to attract Water Signs who more naturally breathe in emotional pools.
Water Signs - Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces They live in pools of emotions and the range of their dispositions moves readily from an ice storm to placid river to hot spring. Waters love the comforts of home and family. They have compassionate instincts and are drawn to care for whomever or whatever seems weakened, defective or on the losing side. Water Signs are natural when they deal with the world of feeling and are rarely frightened by any emotion they encounter. Air Signs and Water Signs are mutually attracted. Water Signs need help in the world of logic and reason. They bond well with verbal Air Signs.
